Hidden Object Study

This study works best on a computer with a mouse or trackpad and a large window.

What you will do

Each image shows a table with several objects on it. One more object, the target, is also in the scene, but you cannot see it: it is completely hidden behind one of the objects.

Before each image, the target is shown on its own for so you know what you are looking for. Then the image appears.

Click on the object you think is blocking the hidden target.

You must click before the time runs out. You choose the time below. If the time runs out, the image counts as unanswered.

You start with practice images, followed by test images. The study takes about .

Payment

You earn for every test image you answer correctly (up to ). Practice images are not scored. Payment is sent through Venmo.

You will not see your score until the end of the study.

You will now do practice images. They work exactly like the test:

1. The target is shown on its own for .
2. The image appears. Click on the object you think is blocking the hidden target. You have ; the bar above the image shows the time left.

When you move the mouse over an object, it is outlined. Click to choose it. Your first click is your answer.

After each practice image we show you which object you chose. Practice does not show whether your answer was correct, and practice answers are not scored.

Practice complete

The test is about to begin. It has images and works like the practice, except that the images follow one another without breaks: as soon as you answer, the target for the next image appears. Please make sure you will not be interrupted.

You have to answer each image. Each correct answer earns . You will see your score and payment at the end.
